Live Painting at GJ Union Depot
Call for Artists
When: Saturday, May 11th, 9 am-3 pm
Who: 8 Artists will be selected
What: Artists will complete a 4 x 8 portrait-oriented
wooden panel mural.
All murals are to be completed by 3 pm.
Where: 119 Pitkin Ave, Grand Junction, CO
All selected artists will receive $400.

First ever live painting event at GJ Union Depot
- The application deadline is April 15th
- Work should be all-ages appropriate.
- All mediums are welcome...brush paint, spray paint, airbrushing, charcoal, etc.
- Concepts inspired by railroads, trains, the depot's architecture, or the Grand Valley's natural landscape/wildlife beauty will be given preference, but are not mandatory.
- Each artist will complete a 4' x 8' portrait-oriented wooden panel. Based on the artist's medium, selected artists will be provided with either OSB or Plywood.
- Event date: Saturday, May 11th, 9 am - 3 pm All work is to be completed by 3 pm (artists are not required to stay the entire time as long as the work is completed by 3 pm) Based on the intricacy or complexity of the design, a day of pre-work is available on Friday, May 10th to ensure the piece can be completed by 3:00 pm on Saturday.
- The completed murals will be installed on the windows of GJ Union Depot and be displayed for 12 - 24 months while the windows are restored. We will apply a protective poly coat to all finished works to ensure they stand up to the elements.
- Based on the selected artist's medium, the artist's work area may be set up either inside or outside. Outside work areas will be provided with a shade canopy.
- Artists of all ages and experience levels are encouraged to apply.
- All selected artists will be compensated for their art, however, we will be conducting audience voting for "people's choice" recognition.
- Lunch and beverages are provided for all selected artists.
